MuscleTech Protein Cookies: 3 Flavors
Last week I placed an order for MuscleTech’s Protein Cookies.
I had never tried these before.
I ordered 12 cookies, in 3 different flavors:
• Peanut Butter Chip
• Chocolate Chip
• Triple Chocolate
Serving Size: 1 Cookie (92g)
Before I provide some honest feedback, I would note that these should NOT be compared to regular cookies… What I mean to say is that if you like baked cookies of whatever variety, and expect a Protein Cookie to taste the same and to have the same texture, you are probably going to be disappointed. It is better, in my opinion, to compare a Protein Cookie to a Protein Bar. The point here is to get some protein in your tummy, with some added deliciousness.
Here are some thoughts on these cookies.
This is a combined review on all three flavors.
The taste is good. I liked all three flavors. I thought the Triple Chocolate was a bit too sweet, but that is probably because I don’t eat a lot of sugar to begin with. I was looking for a bit more Peanut Butter taste in the PB cookie. Tasted a lot of dough in that one. Not disappointed by it, but I was hoping for more Peanut Butter flavor in there.
I thought that the Calorie/Protein ratio could have been a bit better. You get a decent amount of Protein, but there are too many calories for that. Compared to some of the protein bars that I eat on a regular basis, I would have liked the calories to be under 300 for 18g of Protein. Also, there are too many Carbs and too much Sugar. Of course, my forum name would make some of you smile here (LOL) so that is perhaps a more personal preference. Personal preference aside, I still think that 49g of Carbs (41g after subtracting the Fiber) is still too high in this profile.
The texture is very thick. I liked that very much. All three flavors that I tried had a pretty thick and dense texture.
I ate two of these at a time, because I wanted to compare them dry vs. microwaved. They filled me up very well. I would assume that eating just one would also fill me up pretty well, because after eating the first one, I was already full.
I bought these on sale, so I was very happy with the price. Definitely affordable, at least when on sale.
Overall, I was very happy with these cookies. I still have some, and I will eat about one a day, as a PostWorkout mini-meal. I will definitely buy again.
*** Regarding dry vs. microwaved, I didn’t really notice enough difference between the two, unless I went with at least 15 seconds, which resulted in the cookie being too hot. The suggested 3 seconds did nothing to the cookie – my microwave melted the topping in about 5 seconds. Anything longer than that, I didn’t really like. I am guessing the point of using a microwave is simply to melt the topping? Either way, I liked the cookies both dry and microwaved.
